Swedish Taxpayers' Association

The Swedish Taxpayers' Association (Skattebetalarnas förening) is an association and taxpayers union in Sweden which advocates low taxes and efficiency in the public sector. The organisation claims that its membership reached 200,000 paying members in an unspecified year between 1985 and 1991.,[1] and its current chairman of the board (since 2007) is Dick Kling and the president (since 2004) is Robert Gidehag.

The Swedish Taxpayers' Association is a member of the European Taxpayers' Association.[2]

History

The Swedish Taxpayers' Association was founded in 1921 on the initiative of Marcus Wallenberg. It grew quickly to 40,000 members in 1925, and served as the model for similar organisations in Denmark, Finland and Norway.[3]
